Under the supervision of a Registered Physician, a Physician Assistant II performs a number of medical procedures, including pre and post operative management of patients, wound care, and others. Writes admission, pre-operative and post-operative orders for patient care.

In conjunction with attending MD's and house staff, provides care and management for neurosurgical inpatients at all levels of acuity. Pre & post-operative care and procedures, daily rounds, may assist in OR.

Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and two years of graduate study in an AMA approved Physician’s Assistant program.

Current registration as Physician’s Assistant in the State of Rhode Island.

An extremely high level of analytical ability in order to apply post-surgical training to the treatment of patients.

Good interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively with patients and nursing personnel.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Requirements: EXPERIENCE:

Three months on-the-job training and experience to become familiar with job responsibilities and work routines.

Graduate of an accredited PA program, board certified by NCCPA; RI PA license or eligible preferred.

3-5 years experience in an acute care/critical care setting, (ideally, neurology or neurosurgery) in an academic medical center preferred.
